Service
Community service provides students with an opportunity to apply their academic learning to real life experiences.
Service To Our Community
As stated in the Phi Beta Lambda creed, every person should take responsibility for carrying out assigned tasks in a manner that brings credit to self, associates, school, and the community. During the academic year, the North Carolina Central University Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda sponsors various programs to educate students on the importance of servicing the community in which they live.
As a way of contributing efforts to worthwhile projects, the North Carolina Central University Chapter participates in Walk-to-Cures, Adopt-A-Highway Programs, Can Food and Clothing Drives, Adopt a Family for the Holidays, Toy Drives, Tutorials with Boys and Girls Clubs, and much, much more.

Adopt-A-Highway Program
Since the fall of 1995, North Carolina Central University requires all new (undergraduate) students to complete 120 hours of community service. This requirement extends to all readmits and transfer students. North Carolina Central University is reclaiming the meaning of its school motto – “Truth and Service.”
Phi Beta Lambda devoted its efforts to upholding the University’s policy by participating in the Adopt-A-Highway Program since 1999.

Eastway
In Honor of NCCU homecoming week 2016, Eastway Elementary school hosted its first ever college day. In Durham Public Schools, we are growing Durham”s Future and ensuring that our students are equipped with the resources needed to become college and career ready. Different organizations from NCCU came to speak with the first and third grade students about campus life. Students were also able to speak with current students about the expectations of NCCU and what NCCU has to offer. Our goal was to create a college going culture amongst the students and inspire and promote students in their pursuit of a college education.

Education
One of the most important benefits of being a member in Phi Beta Lambda is having an opportunity to learn a wealth of knowledge through workshops and seminars. Every year, Iota Tau hosts a variety of events that give the students and the Durham community an opportunity to network with other students and businesspersons.
During the academic year, the Chapter hosts seminars pertaining to Time Management, Parliamentary Procedure, Dressing for Success, Money Management, Financial Management, Electronic Etiquette, Stress Management, in addition to having Professional Careers and Entrepreneurship panel discussions.
